See the details below: "We are currently inviting applications for aÂ postdoctoralÂ research position in the Max Planck Research Group for Neuroanatomy & Connectivity. Our research investigates the organization of connectivity in the human cerebral cortex using MRI. The research projects will address the topological structure of cortical connectivity patterns and their relationship to underlying cortical morphology. Specific topics may range from graph theoretical approaches and describing network structure to cortical developmental modeling and addressing data visualization challenges. The duration of the position is flexible, beginning with an initial period of two years. Candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent) in neuroscience, computer science, or a related discipline, with a strong background in data analysis and programming. Previous experience in neuroscience and working with brain imaging data is an advantage, but not a requirement. Applicants should nonetheless have an outstanding scientific track record with clear evidence of leadership and scholarly output in the form of publications and other achievements. The position is primarily devoted to research, with no formal teaching requirements, but ample opportunity to mentor graduate students. The Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences offers a collaborative, international research environment with English being the language spoken in the lab. The Institute has a state-of-the-art research infrastructure, including several 3T scanners and one 7T MRI scanner, TMS/tDCS, EEG, MEG, etc, and substantial computing resources. Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research fellow position in the laboratory of Dr. Kestas Kveraga (http://www.kveragalab.org/) at the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. The successful candidate will work on a project investigating the neurodynamics of visual threat perception in anxiety disorders and normal populations using MEG, fMRI, and eye-tracking as part of a 5-year NIMH grant. The Martinos Center houses an Elekta Neuromag Vectorview MEG system with integrated EEG, a TMS system, and many MRI scanners, including a PET-fMRI system and the Connectome scanner. Applicants with a Ph.D. in neuroscience, physiology, psychology, biomedical engineering or a related field will be considered.The ideal candidate will have had substantial experience in MEG and/or EEG, fMRI, and strong programming skills in Matlab, Python, R or similar languages.Experience with MVPA and neural oscillations analyses is a strong plus. This is a full-time position and is open immediately. Aminimum commitment of two years would be required with potential for renewal with good performance. Salary will be determined by experience according to the NIH scale. PhD Position at the Interface of Psychology, Behavioral Economics, Neuro-economics, and Computational Neuroscience at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig, Germany, Department of Social Neuroscience led by Prof. Dr. Tania Singer The position has been created within the framework of an new INET project (http://ineteconomics.org). The cooperation will consist of a small group of four researchers (two postdocs and two PhD students), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Tania Singer (1 Postdoc position and 1 PhD position at the MPI in Leipzig) and Prof. Dr. Dennis J. Snower (1 Postdoc position and 1 PhD position at the Kiel institute). The INET group will combine empirical research methods from psychology and neurosciences, focusing on motivation, social cognition and emotion, with behavioral economics methods (game theoretical paradigms). Moreover, computational models will be applied with the goal to provide a broader understanding of how motivation influences human economic decision making, for instance in the context of public-good problems. The general goal is to provide empirical evidence for the formulation of new economic models based on human biology and psychology. The position at the MPI is part of an interdisciplinary department that investigates the foundations of human social behavior and, more specifically, the developmental, neural, and hormonal mechanisms underlying social cognition and social emotions. The successful candidate has a solid education in behavioral economics (game-theoretical paradigms) and/or neuro-economic methods (MRI) combined with knowledge and strong interest in motivational psychology and/or social affective neurosciences (including pharmacological interventions such as oxytocin, cortisol, etc). Knowledge of computational neuroscience would be advantageous. The position is primarily devoted to research, with no teaching and minimal administrative duties.
