A postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Adam Aron (www.aronlab.org <http://www.aronlab.org>). The candidate should be interested in fronto-basal-ganglia circuits for response control in humans. The candidate should have a PhD in any of learning/motivation, movement control, working memory or attentional/cognitive control. The candidate MUST have good skills in functional imaging and/or electrophysiology, and be interested in behavioral/cognitive task development. The lab has excellent local and collaborative research resources, including fMRI, TMS and EEG/ECoG. There is also a patient-related component in Parkinson's disease. There is a broad psychology and neuroscience community at UCSD, moreover in a stunning location. Christmas Party money collection

Hi all, I will be coming round ynic this Monday (14.10.13) between 9 am and 10:30 am, and Tuesday (15.10.13) between 2 pm and 3 pm to collect menu choices (attached) and money for the Christmas party. Guests and partners are very welcome (one guest per person) should you wish to bring them. *Dietary Requirements* The chef at The Churchill says he can cater for any dietary requirement. We will take a preference for food choices and also write by each option the particular dietary requirement (e.g. gluten-free). Hopefully the chef will be able to make that dish with the specific dietary requirement, but if not, then I'm sure he will make a tasty alternative. If you are unable to be there at these times but would like to come to the party, it would be great if you could leave your choices with somebody else able to be there, or alternatively arrange a time to come see me in the psychology department (or arrange a time with Rich Harris who is also responsible for collecting money from ynic staff). YNiC Open Plan area

Hi, Due to several events, YNiC open plan will be very busy at the following times. Thursday 10th October 0930-1230 and 1615 onwards: Seminars on resting state connectivity Friday 11th October 1000-1200 and 1300-1500: MSc Cognitive Neuroscience / 1st Year PhD Induction Part 1 Friday 25th October 1000-1200 and 1300-1500: MSc Cognitive Neuroscience / 1st Year PhD Induction Part 2 Priority will be given to those attending the sessions and any machines which have been left logged in will be logged out. The YNiC induction sessions are also open to all of those who are new to the centre this year. Dear all, The annual Christmas party will be held on *Thursday 5th December* at *The Churchill* <http://www.churchillhotel.com/> (65 Bootham, York), from 7pm. The cost is *£23* and includes a free drink before the three-course meal. The meal was really tasty last year and the menu for this year looks as though it will be of the same high standard! Guests, including partners, are welcome. As always, the money is due in advance. We'll be coming around offices to make collections on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th October, so make sure you have some cash ready for us. Alternatively, you could pop by and see Huarda <huarda.valdes-laribi(a)york.ac.uk>in C104, or Emma <eh776(a)york.ac.uk>or Adele <ag561(a)york.ac.uk>in B001b. Research Associate (Fixed Term) http://www.jobs.cam.ac.uk/job/2037/ Applications are invited for the position of post-doctoral researcher on a grant addressing the neuroscience of unconscious perception and 'free' choices. The grant is funded by the John Templeton Foundation and the successful candidate will program and conduct (behavioural and imaging) experiments, analyse neuroimaging data and assist with preparation of papers for publication. Candidates should have, or be in the final stages of obtaining, a PhD in Psychology / Cognitive Neuroscience. The successful candidate will have solid programming skills (MATLAB and/or Python) and have experience of imaging analysis (e.g. SPM, Fieldtrip, MNE). Previous experience of MEG or EEG would be particularly advantageous, though strong fMRI backgrounds will also be seriously considered.
