*Research Fellowship (Verification and clinical validation of a 3-D finite element model of the cochlea)* University of Athens, Greece Applications are invited to fill one open EU-funded Research Fellow position in the Audiology Laboratory at the 1st Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Athens Medical School, Greece. The applicant will participate in the SIFEM project (http://sifem.ubitech.eu/) aiming at the clinical validation of a 3-D finite element model of the cochlea. The position is available on 1st of May for an initial period of 6 months, with the prospect of continuation until April 2015. Candidates are expected to have a BSc in Audiological Science or a related field and ideally have an MSc or PhD in a related discipline. Candidates with background in audiology research are especially encouraged to apply. Successful applicants will be involved in the validation and verification of a 3D finite element geometrical model of the cochlea by using otoacoustic emissions and psychoacoustic tuning curves. Experience with psychoacoustic testing is desired, but not required for candidates with strong audiology background. Programming skills (MATLab) are desirable. The Research Fellow will be expected to work 3.5 days per week in the laboratory and clinic and will be expected to participate in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching (1-2 hours per week). Salary is expected to range between 24,000 - 30,000 Euros per annum based on experience. It provides clinical services for all major subspecialties including Otology & Neurotologic surgery, Audiology, Head & Neck Oncology, Rhinology and Laryngology. It is also one of the Cochlear Implant Centres in Athens. These positions are for two years, with possibility for extension depending on funding. The successful candidates will work on a NIMH-funded study of neurobiological and socio-emotional development in Mexican-origin adolescents at risk for depression. The project draws on multiple methods of inquiry including psychophysiology, neuroimaging, behavioral responses, and questionnaires. *The successful candidates will be responsible for: *** ·Recruiting, scheduling and maintaining contact with youths and their families in Spanish and English; ·Running visits with youths and their parents at the Imaging Research Center in Sacramento; ·Collecting, processing, managing, and analyzing fMRI, psychophysiological (autonomic, adrenocortical and immunological) and behavioral data; ·Managing human subject protocols, human consent forms, and annual IRB approval; ·General lab management duties, including scheduling and supervision of undergraduate research assistants. *Position qualifications include:*** *Required:* A bachelor's degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field. Experience with neuroimaging and/or psychophysiological procedures. Availability to work during weekend and evening hours. *Preferred:* Fluent in speaking, reading and writing in Spanish; Strong track record of working with youth and their families; Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment on multiple tasks; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and keen attention to detail; Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, Unix) and willingness to learn and develop new skills related to data collection, management and processing. Experience processing neuroimaging and/or psychophysiology data using relevant software programs (e.g., MindWare, BioPac, AFNI, MATLAB, SPM), programming experimental tasks (e.g., using E-prime), and/or statistical analysis (e.g., using SPSS) are also highly desired. Applications are invited for the position of Research Programme Coordinator at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London. The post holder will play a central role co-ordinating PSYSCAN, a large multi-centre programme funded by Framework 7. PSYSCAN involves a consortium of leading academic centres (including Iop and the Universities of Cambridge, Edinburgh, Utrecht, Maastricht, Madrid & Melbourne), and companies with expertise in the development of diagnostic tools and new treatments (IXICO, Cambridge Cognition, Hoffman-LaRoche, Eli Lilly). The programme comprises a series of projects, including the analysis of datasets previously collected by the consortium, the development of novel image analysis software, the acquisition of new neuroimaging data from the centres in the consortium, and the development, validation and implementation of a new clinical tool. The aim of the PSYSCAN tool is allow clinicians to use neuroimaging and other data to predict outcomes in individuals at high risk for psychosis, or who have recently developed psychosis.
