Hello,
Please see details below regarding upcoming inductions, training sessions,
this week's Seminar, our YNiC Social event, and potential disruption in
open plan.
*YNiC User Inductions*
If you are aware of any new students/staff that will require access to
YNiC and/or
an IT account, they must attend a YNiC user induction. Our next induction
will be on *Tuesday the 3rd of December, at 10:00am*. Please ask them to
contact support(a)ynic.york.ac.uk to sign up.
*Level 0 operator training*The next L0 training session will be held
on *Wednesday
the 4th of December, 13:00-15:00.* Please note that users requesting Level
0 training should be a PhD, RA/Postdoc, or staff, and should already have a
project proposal submitted to YNiC. Please email support(a)ynic.york.ac.uk if
you have any questions or wish to book on to this session. Please note that
sessions are limited to 4 trainees, which will be allocated on a first-come
first-served basis.
*Seminar: Wednesday, 11am at YNiC*
This week's Seminar will be given by *Chen Chen* with a talk titled
*"**Mind-wandering
during reading"*. Please join us at YNiC for the session, all staff and
students are very welcome. Or you can join via zoom, using the following

If you would like to lead a COGS session or give a Seminar talk, please get
in touch (jennifer.ashton(a)york.ac.uk). You can see the full YNiC events
schedule here:
www.ynic.york.ac.uk/events.
*YNiC Social: 11th December at 11am*
During the last week of the semester, we will be holding a small YNiC
social event. It would be wonderful to see the many researchers who have
been using the centre this Semester. Please join us for a mince-pie and
some light-hearted fun, festive attire is welcomed (but not mandatory) 🎄
*Potential Disruption in Open Plan*
This week there will be PAT testing happening throughout the centre. There
may be some disruption to Open Plan, however we hope this will be minimal.
MRI and MEG will be unaffected, so there will be no disruption to any
planned scans.
*YNiC Fob Access*
We are still in the process of deactivating YNiC fobs associated with
individuals who no longer use the centre. We will do our very best to
ensure that fobs currently in use are not affected, however there is the
chance your fob may get deactivated if it has not been named on the system
correctly, or has been passed between individuals. If your fob no longer
works, we can reactivate it straight away, please just ask at reception or
a member of staff.
*YNiC Drop-In - Wednesday afternoons*
On Wednesday afternoons, there will be a YNiC research tech (or two)
working out in open plan. If you are struggling with something, or would
prefer to ask for help in person, this would be the perfect time to come
and work over in YNiC, have a chat and get some help :)
(This is in addition to our usual support ticketing system, and of course
you can come and knock on the office door at any time!)
Have a great week!
Many thanks,
Jennifer
