MADISON WI: Post-doctoral Fellowship in Neuropsychology and Neuroimaging
Wisconsin Alzheimers Institute,
University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Medicine and Public Health
We are delighted to announce an opening for a 2-3 year post-doctoral
fellowship in the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute (WAI) under the
supervision of Sterling Johnson, PhD, Bruce Hermann, PhD, Barbara
Bendlin, PhD, and Ozioma Okonkwo, PhD. The research focus is on
presymptomatic AD utilizing a longitudinal cohort study known as the
Wisconsin Registry for Alzheimer’s Prevention, a cohort of over 1,500
healthy middle-aged and older adults with or without risk factors for
AD. Participants undergo serial neuropsychological, biomarker (CSF),
genetic and neuroimaging (e.g. amyloid PET imaging, FDG metabolic PET
imaging, PET receptor mapping, fMRI tasks of episodic memory, resting
BOLD, CBF mapping and DTI) investigations in addition to detailed
lifestyle and medical histories. The fellow should have sufficient
background in systems neuroscience, functional neuroanatomy,
experimental design, psychometric theory and statistical analysis to
contribute to the data analyses, interpretation and write-up of this
rich dataset for publication. Some experience in neuroimaging analysis
methods (SPM/Matlab, FSL, AFNI, shell scripting etc.) is strongly
preferred, though further training in imaging analysis will be a key
component of fellowship training.
The fellow shall have completed a doctoral degree in a relevant
discipline such as clinical or experimental psychology, cognitive
neuroscience, statistics, medical physics or computer science. The
position is ideally suited for candidates who envision a
research-oriented career.
The application deadline is January 15, 2014 and the position start date
is flexible between July and September 2014. Salary is $45K to $50K in
year 1 depending on experience, with a generous benefits package through
the University of Wisconsin. Funding to attend and present at one to two
conferences per year is also provided. Interested applicants should send
a CV, representative publications, a research statement and two letters
of recommendation by email to Sterling Johnson, PhD, Professor,
