PhD Position on the neural correlates of verbally instructed fear (Ghent
University, Belgium)
In the context of a research project of the Research Foundation –
Flanders on the neural correlates of verbally instructed fear
conditioning we are seeking a PhD student with an interest in functional
MRI and fear conditioning. The goal of the PhD project supervised by
Prof. Marcel Brass and Prof. Jan De Houwer is to investigate the brain
circuits that are involved in the implementation of verbally instructed
fear. The position is available for 2+2 years. Candidates should have a
master degree in psychology, neuroscience, neuropsychology or a related
field. Basic computer programming skills (preferably Matlab) and
experience with fMRI is helpful. Furthermore, experience with
psychological experiments is required.
The department provides excellent brain imaging facilities with access
to a research-dedicated fMRI scanner. Candidates should send their
