A full time position is available at the Birmingham University Imaging
Centre (BUIC) for a magnetic resonance (MR) physicist.
The purpose of this role is to provide technical expertise and
scientific support for MR-based operations and developments associated
with the research-dedicated 3T Philips Achieva MRI scanner at BUIC. The
post holder is required to work proactively with BUIC users to identify
the best solutions to their needs with regard to the setting up and
running of MR based projects. The post holder will develop, carry out
and assess quality assurance (QA) and safety testing of MRI equipment;
support users to implement, optimise and apply existing and novel
techniques in MR imaging and spectroscopy; facilitate and help to
proactively identify external collaborations including clinical trials.
In addition, it is expected that the post holder will assist in
developing an independent research stream that will raise the profile of
BUIC and the University in the area of MR Physics, and the post holder
will be supported academically to achieve this goal.
