The Department of Special Education and Counselling, The Hong Kong
Institute of Education is seeking academics excited by the prospect of
contributing their expertise in the area of educational and
developmental neuroscience. The successful candidate will contribute to
the growth and development of the Department that plays a central role
in all areas of special education, school guidance and counselling;
pursue research and development projects that contribute to a better
understanding of the neural correlate of learning and various
psychiatric disabilities in children and adolescents; and work with
schools and education policy-makers in improving schooling for all learners.
Applicants with expertise in following areas are welcome to apply:
Cognitive Neuroscience / Developmental Neuroscience / Neuropsychology /
Computational Neuroscience with a strong background in special education
and child and adolescent psychiatric disorders.
Applicants should have a doctoral degree in related areas with a
relevant record of research and teaching. They should have evidence of
plans for future development and the capacity to work with schools and
education professionals. Bilingual competency in English and Chinese
and an appreciation of the challenges of working in a multicultural
context will be advantageous. PhD students in their final year with
good potential in research may be considered for the post of Lecturer.
