PhD in Cognitive Psychology/Cognitive Neuroscience, Department of Psychology, School of
Social Sciences, Brunel University London, UK
We are pleased to offer a bursary to support doctoral PhD study in Cognitive Psychology /
Cognitive Neuroscience. The bursary will be at ESRC level to support costs of living
(approx. £15,500 per annum), and cover full-time tuition fees (Home/EU) for a period of
three years.
Applicants should have a 2.1 or first class (or equivalent) undergraduate degree in
Psychology, Neuroscience, or related fields. A postgraduate degree in these subject areas
is also desirable, but not a necessity. Experience with functional magnetic resonance
imaging (fMRI) and expertise in Cognitive Psychology / Cognitive Neuroscience is
beneficial. The PhD project will be in the area of behavioural and fMRI research on
dual-task performance.
Brunel University is a campus University located in Uxbridge (West London) with direct
access to the London tube. The Department of Psychology is a thriving, interdisciplinary
Department in the School of Social Sciences, with currently 28 full-time staff members. In
the 2008 RAE 85% of our research was judged to be of international standard. Our research
facilities include a 3T MRI scanner, EEG laboratories, TMS, and an eye-tracker (EEG and

The successful candidate might be required to undertake a certain amount of teaching
and/or academic work per year. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain
