One of the duties will be to coordinate and facilitate MEG research at
CIMeC, acting as faculty coordinator of the MEG lab. Therefore a
demonstration of strong organizational and collaborative skills is an asset.
Interested scholars must have an excellent research record, especially
using electrophysiological techniques (M/EEG).
The successful candidate would be expected to contribute to the Center’s
overall goal of delivering teaching at MSc and PhD level, and developing
cutting-edge research in the area of Cognitive Neuroscience.
_CIMeC_
The CIMeC's purpose is to foster cutting-edge research on the neural
underpinnings of cognition and to support the dissemination of these
findings internationally and within the local community. As
an interdisciplinary research and teaching center, the center draws on
faculty from several departments, including Psychology and Cognitive
Science, Humanities and Philosophy, Physics, Mathematics, and
Information Engineering and Computer Science. Its faculty originates
from Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, USA, Canada, Argentina,
Israel and beyond. Researchers study brain organization via the analysis
of its functional, structural and physiological characteristics, in both
normal and pathological conditions. Top-of-the-line instrumentation
includes research-dedicated MRI, MEG, EEG, NIRS, TMS and eye tracking
solutions, as well as systems for studying kinematics. In addition, the
affiliated Center for Neurocognitive Rehabilitation (CERiN) is
specialized in the study of clinical cases.
In the last 5 years CIMeC faculty have won many competitive national and
international grants, including 1 European Research Council (ERC)
advanced grant, 1 ERC consolidator grant, 6 ERC starting grants,
other European Framework grants and highly competitive grants awarded by
the local province. The center has recently been ranked the leading
cognitive neuroscience research unit in Italy. The University of Trento

The Department of Psychology and the Centre for French and Linguistics
at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) invite applications for
a tenure-stream appointment in Psycholinguistics. The appointment will
be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will begin on July 1, 2016.
51% of the appointment will be in the Department of Psychology and 49%
will be in the Centre for French and Linguistics.
We encourage applications from candidates with research experience in
the area of psycholinguistics, and a PhD in Psychology, Linguistics, or
a closely related field, by the date of appointment or shortly
thereafter. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is
desirable: brain imaging of language; child and/or adult language
acquisition; adult psycholinguistics; computational modeling; or
speech-language disorders. Candidates must demonstrate a record of
excellence in research and the ability to develop an independently
funded research program.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct innovative research
at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding,
externally funded research program. She or he will have an established
or emerging record of scholarly accomplishment including publications in
leading academic journals and/or with leading academic presses, or will
provide evidence of excellence in research as demonstrated in
presentations at significant conferences, awards for work in the field
and strong endorsements by referees. She or he must have demonstrated
excellence in teaching through teaching accomplishments, letters of
reference and teaching materials submitted as part of the application.
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake undergraduate and
graduate research supervision and teaching, and to perform standard
professional and administrative activities typical of a department
and/or university.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

We are seeking an MR physicist with technical training and extensive
experience in magnetic resonance imaging, including but not limited to
strong expertise in functional MRI. Knowledge in diffusion and other
imaging modalities is also desirable. The successful candidate will be
responsible for managing and supervising a 3T MRI facility fully
dedicated to neuroscience research and particularly cognitive brain
imaging. Responsibilities include oversight of technical operations and
maintenance of the scanner to guarantee the smooth running of the MRI
platform; ensuring interfaces with various equipments for use in
neuroscience research and enforcing safety policies; bringing solutions
for hardware compatibility or design appropriate to research in the MR
environment; support to researchers for scientific activities and
student training; data management; as well as MRI protocol optimization,
pulse sequence programming and development. The post-holder will
directly supervise a radiology technician in charge of day-to-day
acquisitions and planning, and have close interactions with other staff
in the laboratory in charge of informatics and general lab management.
The post-holder will be a core member of the BBL staff, affiliated with
both the Center for Neuroscience and the Center for Affective Sciences,
which are two interdisciplinary excellence centers of the University of
Geneva.
The post-holder will have opportunities for independent scientific
research depending on personal interest and competences, in addition to
intense collaborations on various short-term or long-term projects with
many research groups working in basic and clinical neuroscience,
cognitive psychology, EEG, or computer sciences, from diverse
institutions in Geneva. Close interactions are also expected with other
imaging facilities including the Radiology Department of the University
Hospital of Geneva (HUG), the Campus Biotech of Geneva where new
neuroscience platforms are installed, as well as the Center of
Bio-Medical Imaging (CIBM) where high-field MR platforms (human 7T and
animal 9T-14T) are jointly established between Geneva and Lausanne
Universities and EPFL.
Salary/rank will be commensurate with experience (PhD required).
Starting date is January 1st 2016 (but negotiable if needed). Contract
planned for unlimited duration after probationary period of one year.
