FYI
------------------------
*Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellow - NeuroSpin MEG group.*
*Research* *Topics . *Time awareness is a fundamental component of how
we experience the world. Neural dynamics actively shape and organize
events in time implicitly (“temporal event-structuring”) leading to our
conscious awareness of time proper (incl. simultaneity, temporal order,
and duration of events but also magnitudes and “mental time travel”).
Part of our work aim at understanding which aspects of sensory events
and which properties of temporal cognition are fundamental to our
awareness of time: how is time encoded in the brain? How does time
awareness emerge? Our research group is funded by an ERC and a French
ANR. The experimental work will essentially make use of
magnetoencephalography (MEG); other techniques can be considered pending
the research questions.

The MEG lab uses Fieldtrip, Brainstorm, MNE and MNE-python as its
primary MEG analysis tools but is open to many others.

Ongoing and submitted work* *relevant* *to this project will be
presented at Biomag (cf. Symposium: Brain rhythms, temporal expectations
and the awareness of time) and SFN 2012 (Nanosymposium: Human timing).**

Our group is located in a state-of-the-art neuroimaging facility near
Paris (Gif s/ Yvette, France) and is part of the Cognitive Neuroimaging
Unit (
http://www.unicog.org/). The infrastructure is equipped with MEG
(Neuromag, Elekta), EEG (64 or 256 sensors, combined with MEG
recordings), MRI (3T and 7T), eyetrackers (SR Eyelink 1000 that is
combined with Neuroimaging techniques) and soundproof psychophysical
rooms. The greater Parisian scientific community is very diverse and active!

*POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW position*
* *
Applications are invited from talented, enthusiastic and committed
researchers. The ideal applicant will have a significant experience with
analyzing MEG and/or EEG data and a strong research record in cognitive
neurosciences. The selected postdoctoral fellow will lead MEG studies as
part of the ERC funded project “Mind Time”. Research topics encompass
time awareness and temporal event structure, cross-sensory attributes,
magnitude system and mentalizing about time in relation to cortical
oscillations. The researcher will be expected to work closely with and
supervise (master, phd) students involved in the project. Some
involvement in organizational and managerial aspects specific to these
projects can be expected.
*Requirements for the candidates: *
- should hold a PhD in cognitive neurosciences, neurosciences,
psychology, and/or related fields
- a strong record of published / submitted work
- prior experience with M/EEG techniques (e.g. time-frequency analysis,
phase-locking-values, cross-frequency-coupling and source localization
techniques)
- signal processing and programming skills (matlab, python a plus)
Applicants from outside the European Union are welcome but they must
qualify for a valid visa. French speaking is not a requirement as long
as the English language is mastered.
*Starting date*: asap and negotiable
*Salary*: commensurate with experience. The position will be initially
funded for one year (renewable up to three or four years).**
* *
*Application package***
*CV* (incl. a list of publications)
*Two letters of recommendation* (or contacts from which those could be
obtained)
*A letter of intent with a statement of research interests*
Please put *POSTDOC* in the email subject and send your application
package to Virginie.van.Wassenhove(a)gmail.com
