Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time fixed term
position as a postdoctoral researcher with the Clinical Neuroimaging Laboratory, Galway
Neuroscience Centre at the National University of Ireland, Galway. This position is funded
by the Health Research Board and is available from January 2014 to contract end date of
December 2016. The Galway Neuroscience Centre in the National University of Ireland
Galway, is a vibrant world-class centre for neuroscience research. The Clinical
Neuroimaging Laboratory (
http://clinicalneuroimaginglaboratory.com/) combines strengths of
the Psychiatry and Anatomy programmes to conduct clinical research using brain imaging
techniques in psychiatric populations. To extend our existing team, we are seeking a
motivated post-doctoral researcher with experience in imaging and imaging-genetics
research.
Job Description: The successful candidate will conduct a study probing the cholinergic
system function during emotional processing and pharmacological challenge in prospectively
genotyped groups. This post is ideally suited to a career motivated scientist as it
provides excellent opportunities for high impact research, training and mentorship in a
productive interdisciplinary team.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a PhD degree in a relevant area of
neuroscience, most likely neuroimaging or imaging-genetics and a successful track record
of publishing high quality original data peer-reviewed articles, some experience in
programming languages, working at the linux command line, MATLAB, SPM, AFNI. Familiarity
with other relevant software will be considered. Excellent written and spoken English and
communication skills and the ability to work well in a team are required. The ideal
candidate will have strong technical experience with functional MRI data analysis and
knowledge of imaging-genetics approaches with ambitions towards a career as a research
scientist in the neuroscience field. Relevant experience in other areas of neuroimaging
and genetics, statistics, image processing would be considered.
Salary: €37,750 per annum (public sector pay policy rules pertaining to new entrants
will apply)
