*Postdoctoral position, San Diego, California*
*Overview:*
Research in the "Spatio-temporal brain imaging laboratory", uses multimodal functional imaging methods including electro- and magnetoencephalography as well as structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to investigate "where and when" characteristics of distributed neural circuits underlying cognitive and affective functions such as decision making, inhibitory control, language, and emotion perception. Of particular interest are alcohol-related impairments of self-regulatory functions in the context of neurotransmitter genetic markers. We also collaborate on projects focusing on brain-based disorders such as autism.
The primary responsibilities of the post-doctoral scholar will include designing studies, optimizing analysis protocols in the context of a multimodal anatomically-constrained MEG/EEG method, integrating fMRI and genetic results, analyzing and interpreting data, and writing up manuscripts and presenting results to scientific community. This fellowship includes opportunities for development and implementation of novel approaches to data analysis, as well as potential for seeking independent funding
The position is an overtime exempt classification intended to cover the employee with a doctoral degree or equivalent who is employed for a defined period of mentored advanced training to enhance professional skills and research independence in the fellow’s academic discipline. This position is not intended to be part of a clinical training program. The postdoctoral research fellow works under the supervision of an SDSU faculty member.
