Hello,

I hope everybody enjoyed the lovely weather over the summer and managed to get plenty of rest before the start of the new semester.

Informal Coffee & Cake for YNiC Researchers 🎂☕
Everyone is invited over to YNiC next Tuesday (23rd of September, from 10:30am) to enjoy a coffee and piece of cake. This will be a very informal chance to catch-up with other YNiC researchers, and a perfect opportunity for new staff and students to meet our neuroscience community. 🎂☕ Our first YNiC Seminar of the semester will follow at 11:30am, so please hang around for that too!

YNiC Seminars
YNiC seminars are scheduled for Tuesdays at 11:30am fortnightly. Our first seminar will be next Tuesday (23rd of September) and we have a speaker from the School of Physics, Engineering and Technology, Professor Zhihong Huang, who will be speaking about her work using Focused Ultrasound Stimulation (FUS). We look forward to seeing you over in YNiC for the seminar, but I will send a zoom link for those unable to attend in person next week.
If you would like to add the YNiC Seminars to your University google calendar, you can use the following link: https://tinyurl.com/YNICSeminar

Project Archiving
We are continuously working to ensure all users have access to the storage space they need on YNiC systems, however, space is not an unlimited resource and should be used with consideration. If you have come to the end of a project, and you no longer need to regularly access the associated project space, please let us know so we can archive it for you. Files will be securely stored and accessible should you ever need it. This will really help us to ensure there is adequate storage space available for new projects as they start. Thank you!

YNiC User Inductions
If you are aware of any new students/staff that will require access to YNiC and/or an IT account, they must attend a YNiC user induction. New PhD students are very welcome to join the MSc induction this Friday (19th) at 10am. Or they can sign-up for the next monthly induction which will be on Tuesday the 7th of October, at 10:00am. Please ask them to contact support@ynic.york.ac.uk to sign up.

Level 0 operator training
MRI Level 0 Training: Tuesday the 7th of October, 13:00-15:00.
MEG Level 0 Training: Wednesday the 8th of October, 13:00-15:00.
Please note that users requesting Level 0 training should be a PhD, RA/Postdoc, or staff, and should already have a project proposal submitted to YNiC. Please email support@ynic.york.ac.uk if you have any questions or wish to book on to this session. Please note that sessions are limited to 4 trainees, which will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.

Have a great week!!

Many thanks,
Jennifer
