Hello,
Please see details below regarding upcoming inductions, training sessions, this week's Seminar, YNiC fob access and our drop-in sessions.
YNiC User Inductions
If you are aware of any new students/staff that will require access to
YNiC and/or an IT account, they must attend a
YNiC user induction. Our next induction will be on
Tuesday the 3rd of December, at 10:00am. Please ask them to contact
support@ynic.york.ac.uk to sign up.
Level 0 operator training
The next L0 training session will be held on
Wednesday the 4th of December, 13:00-15:00. Please
note that users requesting Level 0 training should be a PhD,
RA/Postdoc, or staff, and should already have a project proposal
submitted to
YNiC. Please email
support@ynic.york.ac.uk if you have any questions or wish to book on to
this session. Please note that sessions are limited to 4 trainees, which will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.
Seminar (External Speaker): Wednesday, 11am at YNiC
This week's seminar speaker will be Dr Marc Himmelberg from New York University, with a talk titled 'Linking cortical magnification in primary visual cortex to visual perception and neural encoding'. Please join us at YNiC for the session, or you can join us via zoom using the following link: https://york-ac-uk.zoom.us/j/98866434382?pwd=Rr68mJPN8g8R0oVbhRQG4Kr1R0ZdKn.1 All staff and students are very welcome.
YNiC Fob Access
Over the next couple of weeks we will be deactivating YNiC fobs associated with individuals who no longer use the centre. We will do our very best to ensure that fobs currently in use are not affected, however there is the chance your fob may get deactivated if it has not been named on the system correctly, or has been passed between users. If your fob no longer works, we can reactivate it straight away, please just ask at reception or a member of staff.
YNiC Drop-In - Wednesday afternoons
On Wednesday afternoons, there will be a YNiC
research tech (or two) working out in open plan. If you are struggling
with something, or would prefer to ask for help in person, this would be the perfect time to come and work over in YNiC, have a chat and get some help :)
(This is in addition to our usual support ticketing system, and of course you can come and knock on the office door at any time!)
Have a great week!
Many thanks,
