Hello Everyone,

Please see below for information regarding open plan availability this week, dates for user inductions/training, information about YNiC data storage and our monthly YNiC seminar.

Taught course tutorials in YNiC open plan
YNiC will be hosting taught course tutorials in open plan every Thursday for the next three weeks, so please be warned that there will be reduced access to desktop computers in YNiC, and more noise/ disruption than usual. This week's session will run from 11:00-13:00 on Thursday the 26th.

YNiC User Inductions
If you are aware of any new students/staff that will require access to YNiC and/or an IT account, they must attend a YNiC user induction. Our next induction will be on Tuesday the 7th of February, at 10:00.  Please ask them to contact support@ynic.york.ac.uk to sign up.

Level 0 operator training
The next L0 training session will be held on Wednesday the 8th of February, 13:00-15:00.  Please note that users requesting Level 0 training should be a PhD, RA/Postdoc, or staff, and should already have a project proposal submitted to YNiC.  Please email support@ynic.york.ac.uk if you have any questions or wish to book on to this session. Please note that sessions are limited to 4 trainees, which will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. Training must be booked at least a week before the session date, in order to reserve the scanner booking.

Storage Space at YNiC
We are reaching data storage capacity, so kindly ask that all users review the data stored within their scratch spaces. Please remove any files that are not currently in use. To free up space, YNIC is able to safely archive older projects, please email support@ynic.york.ac.uk for us to do this for you.

YNiC Seminar
Our monthly YNiC seminar will return next Thursday the 2nd of February with a talk from Dr Andre Gouws, who will provide further information regarding YNiC's Appropriate Data Usage Documentation and the implications for users. This talk will be held at YNiC at 4pm and over zoom. Refreshments will be provided for those attending in person, we hope to see you there!

Have a great week!

Many thanks,
Jennifer
