We are seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral fellow or PhD student to work in the Division of Neuropsychology (led by Prof. Dr. Dr. H.O. Karnath) in Tuebingen, Germany.
The overall goal of the research program that the successful applicant will work on is to investigate the mechanisms and anatomy that underlie our ability to perceive and respond to multiple targets simultaneously and the disruption of this ability in the neuropsychological syndrome of extinction. In our investigations we use fMRI in both stroke patients and neurologically healthy subjects, TMS in healthy subjects, psychophysical investigations in both stroke patients and healthy subjects and lesion-symptom mapping analyses in stroke patients. The successful applicant will have a strong interest in the research topic and will be capable of working independently. The postdoctoral fellow will additionally have a Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience or cognitive science (completed prior to start date) and should have experience with fMRI (and if possible TMS). The initial appointment term will be one year, starting January 2013, with an additional 1-year reappointment contingent on mutual satisfaction. Further extensions will depend on availability of funds.
