Hello,
Please see details below regarding upcoming inductions, training sessions,
our YNiC Social event and details about our holiday closure.
*YNiC User Inductions*
If you are aware of any new students/staff that will require access to
YNiC and/or
an IT account, they must attend a YNiC user induction. Our next induction
will be on *Tuesday the 7th of January, at 10:00am*. Please ask them to
contact support(a)ynic.york.ac.uk to sign up.
*Level 0 operator training*The next L0 training session will be held
on *Wednesday
the 5th of February, 13:00-15:00.* Please note that users requesting Level
0 training should be a PhD, RA/Postdoc, or staff, and should already have a
project proposal submitted to YNiC. Please email support(a)ynic.york.ac.uk if
you have any questions or wish to book on to this session. Please note that
sessions are limited to 4 trainees, which will be allocated on a first-come
first-served basis.
*Holiday Closure*
YNiC will close for the holidays on the *20th of December*. While we are
closed, you will not be able to access the scanners or Open Plan area and
there will be no user support. You will however still have access to the
remote desktop. We look forward to seeing everyone in the new year
from the *6th
of January*.
*YNiC Social: 11th December at 11am*
We will be holding a YNiC social event on Wednesday at 11am. It would be
wonderful to see the many researchers who have been using the centre this
Semester. Please join us for a mince-pie and some light-hearted fun,
festive attire is welcomed (but not mandatory) 🎄
*YNiC Drop-In - Wednesday afternoons*
On Wednesday afternoons, there will be a YNiC research tech (or two)
working out in open plan. If you are struggling with something, or would
prefer to ask for help in person, this would be the perfect time to come
and work over in YNiC, have a chat and get some help :)
(This is in addition to our usual support ticketing system, and of course
you can come and knock on the office door at any time!)
Have a great week!
Many thanks,
Jennifer
