Mental Health and Complex Disorders Research Program, Queensland Berghofer Institute of Medical Research would like to invite applications for a 3-year PhD position, awarded through the University of Queensland.
The current project seeks to examine the emotion circuits in the brain using advanced neuroimaging and brain stimulation techniques. The student will develop skills in state-of-art imaging techniques, including structural and functional MRI, EEG, DTI, combined with TMS stimulation and autonomic physiological recording. Analysis will have an emphasis on functional and effective connectivity, and cortical autonomic interaction. The ideal candidate will have good programming skills and an interest in affective neuroscience, neuroimaging, or autonomic system. The student is expected to be involved with each stage of the project, and have ample authorship opportunities.
Candidates must have a bachelor degree in psychology, neuroscience, engineering, computer science or equivalent academic qualifications. Additional advanced degree, such as honorary, master or medical degree, is preferred. Experience in neuroimaging and proficiency programming (in Matlab, C++, or R) is highly desired. Basic knowledge about the human brain is a plus. Excellent communication skills in English are essential.
