The Department of Experimental Psychology at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen is looking to fill the position of a

 

Post-Doc Research Assistant

 

Regular working hours will be (currently 39.8 hours per week) with a limited contract of 3 years with a possible extension of another 3 years after positive evaluation. This position should be filled by 01.04.2015. Salary: Pay grade 13 TV-L.

 

 

Our group studies the behavioral and neural mechanisms of processing of unconscious visual stimuli and masked priming. We use psychophysical (RT, Eye-Movements), physiological (EEG, fMRI, tDCS), and phenomenological approaches to better understand these mechanisms.

 

Your Duties

You will have the opportunity to perform basic research and will be intimately involved in all aspects of data collection, analyses, and the publication of results. The research project focusses on physiological approaches to priming and visual masking. It is expected that you develop a new branch of research within this field and gain corresponding funding. You will teach courses as defined in Section 31 of the Higher Education Act of Lower Saxony (NHG) in the Bachelor and Master of Psychology programs in German. Administrative duties including supervising student coworkers, maintaining protocols, subject recruitment and scheduling, and record keeping related to active studies will also be required.

 

Your profile

•  You studied psychology and hold a highly qualified PhD in Psychology.

•  Excellent programming experience (e.g., Matlab, Presentation) and statistical software like R.

•  Publications on psychophysiological studies of visual processes (preferably fMRI).

•  Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Must have a demonstrated ability to work

    independently and as part of a team.

•  Proficiency in German and English.

•  Knowledge of and interest in the visual system, visual cognition, neuroanatomy, and statistics.
