Good afternoon everyone

I mainly have reminders and updates for you today, but I also wanted to let users know that a couple of places have become available on a group First Aid training course this Thursday 5th March, which a number of the YNiC staff are attending (don't worry, noone's training expires before the 5th!).  Places will be filled on a first-come first-served basis (I can pass on details for payment later), and it would be beneficial for any users that intend to begin operator training in the coming months.  Please email support@ynic.york.ac.uk to reserve one of the remaining places.


Booking system changes:
The updates to the booking system have now been made; when making bookings you will see that you need to specify both the 'Operator' (must be Level 1 or above) and the 'Co-Operator' (must be a Level 0 or above) when you book.  All other functionality for booking scans remains the same.  Note that this update does not reflect any changes in policy or procedure; as before, two operators must be present at all times in the control room while a participant is being scanned (one or both of the operators must be a Level 1 or above).

If you are booking in an operator covered slot, you can specify whether you will need both/one/none of the YNiC operators.  If you are using your own operators, then the 'Operator' must be a Level 1 or above who is listed on the project as an operator, and the 'Co-Operator' can be anyone that is listed on the project as a co-investigator and has current Level 0 (or above) status (the project PI can add individuals as co-investigators via PTS https://www.ynic.york.ac.uk/pts/, but to make a co-investigator a listed Level 1 operator on a project the PI will need to request this via a support ticket). 

As with the previous system, once the booking has been made you won't be able to amend the operators, so if any changes need to be made you must email support@ynic.york.ac.uk to request amendments.

Closure:
Over the Easter period will have a 'soft closure' from Thursday 2nd April until Friday 17th April. Over this period there will be no operator cover provided and no user support, but users are still welcome to use open plan and book the scanners in the non-operator covered slots.

First Aid Training
As previously communicated, as of this month any operator without a valid First Aid Certificate on record will not be able to act as an operator on any scan until the training certificate is received by YNiC.  Once received, please bring the certificate to reception to be copied and scanned, and your account will be updated.

Open Plan Teaching:
Please be reminded that teaching will take place in YNiC open plan at 12-4pm this Tuesday and Friday.  During these times, the area will be closed to anybody not involved in the teaching.

Level 0 operator Training:
Our next scheduled Level 0 training session will take place after the closure on Wednesday 22nd April at 9:30am.  Please note that users requesting Level 0 training should be a PhD, RA/Postdoc, or staff, and should already have a project proposal submitted to YNiC. 
All users that wish to be operator trained must have First Aid training. Please ensure that this has been completed, or is booked in, before contacting us to arrange training.  Email support@ynic.york.ac.uk if you have any questions or wish to book on to this session, and include which scanner you wish to be trained on. Please note that places are limited and are allocated on a first-come first-served basis. Training must be booked at least a week before the session date, in order to reserve the scanner booking.

YNiC User Inductions:
If you are aware of any new students/staff that will require access to YNiC and/or an IT account, they must attend a YNiC user induction.  Our next induction date will be Wednesday 18th March at 10am.  Please ask them to contact support@ynic.york.ac.uk to sign up.
