The Research Center for Neurological Diseases Foundation offers a senior
post-doctoral position
at the Reina Sofia Foundation Alzheimer Centre in Madrid, Spain.
The main project focuses on an ongoing longitudinal study of a large
cohort of healthy 70-85 year olds, with
particular emphasis on those individuals who subsequently develop mild
cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's
disease.
A strong background in functional brain MRI and volumetric and
tractography techniques is required. A
sufficient level of Spanish to interact with patients and radiographers
is also required. Experience in dementia
research is a plus. The successful candidate will have full access to a
3T research-dedicated scanner, and be
expected to participate in further studies in cognitive neuroimaging, as
well as being highly proactive in
applying for research grants in the field of AD and dementia. There will
be close collaboration with several
laboratories of CIBERNED and other research centres.

Berghofer Institute of Medical Research would like to invite
applications for a 3-year PhD position, awarded through the University
of Queensland.
The current project seeks to examine the emotion circuits in the brain
using advanced neuroimaging and brain stimulation techniques. The
student will develop skills in state-of-art imaging techniques,
including structural and functional MRI, EEG, DTI, combined with TMS
stimulation and autonomic physiological recording. Analysis will have an
emphasis on functional and effective connectivity, and cortical
autonomic interaction. The ideal candidate will have good programming
skills and an interest in affective neuroscience, neuroimaging, or
autonomic system. The student is expected to be involved with each
stage of the project, and have ample authorship opportunities.
Candidates must have a bachelor degree in psychology, neuroscience,
engineering, computer science or equivalent academic qualifications.
Additional advanced degree, such as honorary, master or medical degree,
is preferred. Experience in neuroimaging and proficiency programming (in
Matlab, C++, or R) is highly desired. Basic knowledge about the human
brain is a plus. Excellent communication skills in English are essential.

The National Institute for Health Research Nottingham Hearing Biomedical
Research Unit (NHBRU) is a partnership between Nottingham University
Hospitals NHS Trust, University of Nottingham and the Medical Research
Council Institute of Hearing Research. It employs approximately 30
academic, technical and administrative staff, based in Trust premises
in Nottingham city centre. We are now looking to appoint a researcher at
either Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow level to join a
multi-disciplinary research team concerned with the application of
advanced neuroimaging methods to address questions about auditory
sensorineural plasticity. Specifically, we are interested in examining
the relationship between hearing loss, tinnitus and frequency-based
representation.
Key to this project’s success is a smooth transition from current
optimisation work (expected completion date 31 Aug 2014), in combination
with close collaborative relationship with the Sir Peter Mansfield
Magnetic Resonance Centre, University of Nottingham and the MRC
Institute of Hearing Research. The candidate will be involved in all
aspects of research including development, design, implementation and
dissemination of research findings.
Candidates at Research Fellow level should have a PhD or equivalent in a
relevant scientific discipline. Training and skills in quantitative
research methods are essential including MR Physics and fMRI data
analysis. Candidates should also have an excellent working knowledge of
relevant IT operating systems and software packages (including Windows
and Microsoft Office), a good working knowledge of how to implement
statistical software to analyse and interpret brain imaging data and
excellent communication skills demonstrating an ability to communicate
on all levels across many areas. Project management skills,
demonstrating attention to detail, excellent organisation and planning
are also essential along with good data management and database skills.
The successful candidate will have made substantial scientific
contribution to manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals
and will be developing a national reputation in a relevant field.
In addition to the above, candidates at Senior Research Fellow level
will have post-doctoral research experience in a relevant field. They
will also have experience in research leadership including initiating,
sustaining and pursuing a research plan, a consistent track record of
published research recognised by peers, experience of contribution to
grant proposals for collaborative research and a track record of
successful grant capture. A recognised national reputation in a relevant
field is also a prerequisite.
Salary, depending on skills & experience, will be within the range:
• Senior Research Fellow Scale: £36,661 - £45,053 per annum
• Research Fellow Scale: £28,132 - £36,661 per annum
Salary progression beyond these scales is subject to performance.
This post is a fixed-term contract until 31^st March 2017 and is open to
job share.

A position is available for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Paula Croxson in the Department of Neuroscience and the Friedman Brain Institute at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. The laboratory works on the cognitive neuroscience of memory using a combination of non-human primate animal models and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The main focus of the lab is on the neurochemical basis of memory and the brain-wide networks that support it. In particular, we investigate the effect of lesions on brain-wide networks responsible for memory, particularly working and episodic memory. We also work on the role of neurotransmitters, particularly acetylcholine, on memory and plasticity. We combine lesions with MRI measures including diffusion imaging, functional and structural MRI to investigate these networks at the cognitive and systems levels.
Interested candidates should have Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Psychology or a related discipline. Must also have excellent verbal and written English. Preference will be given to candidates with experience with behavioral work in laboratory animals (particularly non-human primates), or experience with the design and analysis of MRI studies. Programming experience (particularly Matlab) is desirable.

An NIH-funded post-doctoral position is available for a highly motivated
scientist for research in brain imaging methods including functional
MRI, diffusion tensor imaging, voxel-based morphometery, and
magneto-encephalography. The position is in the Advanced Neuroscience
Imaging Research Lab at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
The research project involves studying sports related sub-concussive
impacts using biomechanical measures, cognitive testing, and multimodal
imaging data. The candidate will have opportunities to develop skills in
imaging techniques, experimental design, data analyses, and
cognitive/sensory neuroscience.
Candidates should have strong analytical and computer skills including
familiarity with Unix, Matlab, and SPM and/or FSL. This post will
involve working with other collaborative members of the project
(including imaging scientists, cognitive neuroscientists,
biostatisticians, and biomechanical engineers), and developing and
applying brain image analysis software tools.
Applicants should have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent in any of the
