The CIMeC's purpose is to foster cutting-edge research on the neural
underpinnings of cognition and to support the dissemination of these
findings internationally and within the local community. As
an interdisciplinary research and teaching center, the center draws on
faculty from several departments, including Psychology and Cognitive
Science, Humanities and Philosophy, Physics, Mathematics, and
Information Engineering and Computer Science. Its faculty originates
from Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, USA, Canada, Argentina,
Israel and beyond. Researchers study brain organization via the analysis
of its functional, structural and physiological characteristics, in both
normal and pathological conditions. Top-of-the-line instrumentation
includes research-dedicated MRI, MEG, EEG, NIRS, TMS and eye tracking
solutions, as well as systems for studying kinematics. In addition, the
affiliated Center for Neurocognitive Rehabilitation (CERiN) is
specialized in the study of clinical cases.
In the last 5 years CIMeC faculty have won many competitive national and
international grants, including 1 European Research Council (ERC)
advanced grant, 1 ERC consolidator grant, 6 ERC starting grants,
other European Framework grants and highly competitive grants awarded by
the local province. The center has recently been ranked the leading
cognitive neuroscience research unit in Italy. The University of Trento

We are seeking an MR physicist with technical training and extensive
experience in magnetic resonance imaging, including but not limited to
strong expertise in functional MRI. Knowledge in diffusion and other
imaging modalities is also desirable. The successful candidate will be
responsible for managing and supervising a 3T MRI facility fully
dedicated to neuroscience research and particularly cognitive brain
imaging. Responsibilities include oversight of technical operations and
maintenance of the scanner to guarantee the smooth running of the MRI
platform; ensuring interfaces with various equipments for use in
neuroscience research and enforcing safety policies; bringing solutions
for hardware compatibility or design appropriate to research in the MR
environment; support to researchers for scientific activities and
student training; data management; as well as MRI protocol optimization,
pulse sequence programming and development. The post-holder will
directly supervise a radiology technician in charge of day-to-day
acquisitions and planning, and have close interactions with other staff
in the laboratory in charge of informatics and general lab management.
The post-holder will be a core member of the BBL staff, affiliated with
both the Center for Neuroscience and the Center for Affective Sciences,
which are two interdisciplinary excellence centers of the University of
Geneva.
The post-holder will have opportunities for independent scientific
research depending on personal interest and competences, in addition to
intense collaborations on various short-term or long-term projects with
many research groups working in basic and clinical neuroscience,
cognitive psychology, EEG, or computer sciences, from diverse
institutions in Geneva. Close interactions are also expected with other
imaging facilities including the Radiology Department of the University
Hospital of Geneva (HUG), the Campus Biotech of Geneva where new
neuroscience platforms are installed, as well as the Center of
Bio-Medical Imaging (CIBM) where high-field MR platforms (human 7T and
animal 9T-14T) are jointly established between Geneva and Lausanne

interested in developing computational methods to examine the
network-level structural and functional brain connectivity to shed light
on the neurobiological mechanism of disease, paving the way for early
detection and intervention. We are interested in developing new
mathematical and statistical techniques for processing neurofeedback in
real time using fMRI and EEG and further application in clinical setting
to modify altered brain circuits. Key attractions are access to a 3T MR

Manager of the ICT (Information Computer Technologies) aspects of the
Neuroinformatics-Collaboratory of the Pedro Valdes-Sosa.
The position involves the direction of the High Performance Computing
HPC cluster and lab management. The ideal candidate would have excellent
interpersonal and organizational skills and substantial research
experience using computing methods, cluster and signal processing.
Experience computer in management of IT infrastructure programming,
including number crunching and data analysis in Matlab. The candidate
would preferably possess a M.Sc. or Ph.D. in any of the following
specialties: Computer Science, one of the IT related engineering
disciplines, Physics, Mathematics. The most important conditions would

Our lab is part of the BIC, an internationally recognized and
multidisciplinary centre of neuroimaging, and associated to the Epilepsy
Group of the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital, a tertiary
center that evaluates approximately 200 patients per year for the
pre-surgical investigation of drug-resistant seizures. Our group brings
together graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in Neuroscience,
Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, and Neurology.
We use high- and ultra-high field (3 and 7T) structural and functional
MRI analysis to characterize cortical architecture, function,
metabolism, and networks. We seek to identify novel patient phenotypes
and biomarkers of disease. Main topics include automated lesion
detection through neuroimage-based machine-learning, surface-based
subcortical and cortical modelling, analysis of brain networks using
graph-theory. We are interested in tracking disease progression and its
consequences on brain plasticity, connectivity, and cognition.
The *postdoctoral fellow *will carry our research projects that combine
multi-modal neuroimaging with advanced data analysis (graph theoretical
network analysis, machine learning, multivariate modeling) in large and
well-documented cohorts of patients with drug-resistant epilepsy.
Possibility to participate in several multi-centric and longitudinal
studies. Requirements: PhD in Neuroscience, Computer Science, Cognitive

The *PhD student* will perform research centered on the development of

Postdoctoral studies in Magnetoencephalography (scholarship)
We are seeking a highly talented and enthusiastic researcher with a PhD in neuroimaging awarded within the past three years to work on projects in which magnetoencephalography (MEG) is applied to the problem of how we come to experience limbs as part of our own body.
The research will be conducted at the Brain, Body and Self Laboratory at the Department of Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden (www.ehrssonlab.se). This center has widespread expertise in fMRI and human behavioural experiments. The MEG experiments will be conducted at the recently established the “National Facility Magnetoencephalography (www.natmeg.se) that is equipped with a state-of-the-art MEG system (Electa Neuromag TRIUX), complementary physiological recording devices (MEG compatible 128–channel EEG, plethysmography, EMG, ECG, eyetracking), and sophisticated stimulus delivery platforms (visual, auditory, olfactory, pain, somatosensory; including a robot system for tactile stimulation of the hands).
The ideal candidate will have expertise in the acquisition and analysis of MEG data, (preferably on an Elekta Triux or Vectorview system), expertise in analysis of MEG data (preferably on FieldTrip and/or MNE), as well as excellent programming skills (preferably including MatLab and Neurobs Presentation). Expertise in analysis of EEG data would be an advantage. The candidate is expected to work on projects in which MEG methods are applied to questions relating to how multisensory signals from the body are integrated at the levels of cortical structures to give rise to dynamic changes in the feeling of ownership of limbs. Good social skills are important as the candidate is expected to actively collaborate with other members of the laboratory, in addition to running his or her own project. research projects investigating the neurobiology of language in both

_Postdoctoral Scholar Position in Pedtiatric Neuroimaging_

The *Department of Radiology *at the *University of Calgary* is
accepting applications for a postdoctoral scholar to work with Dr.
Catherine Lebel in the area of pediatric neuroimaging. Applicants should
be interested in the neuroimaging investigations of brain development
and brain abnormalities in developmental disorders.
Dr. Lebel <http://www.developmentalneuroimaginglab.ca>is an Asssistant
Professor in the Department of Radiology, and a member of the Child &
Adolescent Imaging Research (CAIR) program at the Alberta Children’s
Hospital. The CAIR program has a research-dedicated 3T MRI scanner and a
rapidly growing program in pediatric brain imaging. Her research is
supported by CIHR, NSERC, and NeuroDevNet. Dr. Lebel has substantial
experience investigating structural brain development in childhood and
brain abnormalities in children with brain disorders, including prenatal
exposure to alcohol. Dr. Lebel collaborates closely with
neuropsychologists, experts in mental health, and other neuroimaging
researchers at the University of Calgary.
The postdoctoral scholar will work with Dr. Lebel to study relationships
between structural and functional brain development and language ability
in young children. This study aims to examine connections between
prenatal factors (e.g., nutrition, maternal mental health),
structural/functional brain changes as measured by MRI, and language
development in early childhood. The project will involve advanced
analysis and processing of longitudinal neuroimaging data from children
aged 2-6 years.
Applicants should have a PhD in neuroscience, biomedical engineering,
medical sciences, or other relevant discipline, and experience with MR

The NINET lab seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to perform
independent research in the area of depression and schizophrenia.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for the design and
evaluation of experiments, development of new ideas that promote current
research as well as performing quantitative data analysis in a
multi-disciplinary team setting.
Candidates must have a passionate enthusiasm for research and a strong
background in one of the following fields: computational neuroscience,
cognitive neuroscience, mathematics/statistics/machine learning or
related-fields. He/she should also possess the ability to take the
initiative, work independently and be motivated to work in a highly
collaborative research environment, and be able to demonstrate
creativity, technical independence and excellent communication skills.
Strong interest in studying dynamic functional connectivity and its
relationships with disease would be a plus. Proven skills in fMRI/EEG
data analyses are both necessary. fNIRS skills would be a plus, but not
necessary.
Key attractions are access to TMS-fMRI system to conduct
interleaved/concurrent TMS-fMRI, integrated EEG-fNIRS system and all the
array of non-invasive neurostimulation techniques (ECT, MST, TMS, tDCS)

domestic and international scientists and doctors. The incumbent will be
part of a vibrant community of researchers in non-invasive
neurostimulation therapies and neurophysiology who share facilities,

Affective and Translational Neuroscience at McLean Hospital/Harvard

The laboratory is part of the Center for Depression, Anxiety and Stress
Research (CDASR), a vibrant research center that embraces a
multi-disciplinary approach to improve our understanding of the
psychological, environmental, and neurobiological factors associated
with depression, anxiety and related disorders across the lifespan
(http://cdasr.mclean.harvard.edu/).
Currently ongoing studies in Dr. Pizzagalli’s laboratory focus on reward
processing, stress responsivity, and executive functioning in a range of
populations including individuals with major depression, mood spectrum
disorders, as well as at-risk samples (e.g., offspring of parents with
MDD; individuals with past MDD). These studies employ a variety of
approaches, including high-density EEG, fMRI, PET, MRS, molecular
genetics, and assays of hormonal/inflammatory markers, and often a
treatment component (e.g., CBT). Opportunities will be available to
pursue independent research and interdisciplinary collaborations across
Harvard Medical School. Depending on research focus, candidates will
have access to three research-dedicated human MRI scanners (3 T, 4 T)
and one animal MRI scanner (9.4 T), as well as 128-channel EEG systems.
A strong background in EEG/ERP or fMRI techniques is required, and

Dear users,
Following on from our recent system upgrades we have experienced some
instability on one of our file servers that provides group and scratch
group spaces.
We believe we have tracked this down to a rapid growth in storage by a
number of groups resulting in disk space running low. To remedy this we
started emergency maintenance to upgrade the filesystem technology of
these group spaces last night that will then allow us to increase the
amount of capacity available. Unfortunately this process is still
running this morning and is likely to continue throughout the morning.
As a result there is currently no access to scratch group spaces. Group
spaces are available.
To speed up the upgrade of these file systems the cluster is currently
disabled, queued jobs will run once the upgrades complete.
To minimise the chance of this problem repeating itself in the future we
will also be upgrading all the remaining (non-group) filesystems this
evening (Thursday 1 Oct) between 7pm and 9am the following morning. All
YNiC systems will be unavailable during this time.
We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause and for the stability
issues over the past few days.

As of 1st October this year, YNiC is re-introducing an induction
procedure for new centre users. This induction will cover various
health & safety, organisational and practical issues regarding using the
centre. Induction sessions will take around one hour.
This induction is mandatory for all new centre users. To ensure this,
fobs and IT accounts will not be issued to any new user who has not
completed an induction. We have to be able to show the insurers that we
have taken action to ensure that all users are aware of the issues
involved in using the centre.
If you have been using the centre and have not attended an induction
event in the past, please do take the opportunity to attend one of the
sessions.

Dear all,
The YNiC software upgrade has now been completed.
As a reminder, the main changes are:
* The default FSL version is now 5.0. Details on switching this for
those wishing to continue using 4.1 are at
https://www.ynic.york.ac.uk/docs/ITPages/FAQ/FSL/Versions
* The default Matlab version is now 8.5 (2015a). 7.4 (2012a) is still
available.
* The available Psychopy version is now 1.82.02.
* The default Python version is now 2.7. Nearly all python modules
have been upgraded.
One other smaller change:
* clusterFeat now submits jobs in a way which will make them run in
parallel when possible. This should speed up FSL analyses (especially
higher level analyses)
The remote desktop server is available immediately and YNiC Open plan
will be open as usual from Wednesday morning.
