Hello All,
We are no starting a busy period for the centre as we host our MSc student
projects. We are also in the process of installing some new functional and
spectroscopy imaging sequences on the Siemens scanner that we hope will
prove useful to researchers.
Best wishes

Hello,
The date for the next YNIC Science committee meeting is April 30th. If any
users have issues that they would like raised, please can they get in
contact with me before the end of next week so I can include these in the
agenda. One issue we are hoping to discuss are the Seminar series. If
anyone has any comments on what they like or dislike about these that would
be really helpful.
Thanks
Jonny

Hello All,
We are working on a new way to deliver our clinical services. When
possible we are focusing our efforts on scanning on Monday afternoons and
into early evening. This will allow us to allocate the required resources
for the service in a more efficient way, while also making the scanners
free for the rest of the week. It should be noted however that there may
be some other occasions during the week when we may have to scan urgent
cases.
Best wishes

Hello All,
The centre will be closed for Good Friday and Easter Monday. Some YNiC
staff will be taking leave this week or next, so please be patient if you
have sent requests to support(a)ynic.york.ac.uk
Thanks and Happy Easter

Hello
We're having some issue with the NFS mounts on the remote desktop which is
causing issues for some users and so need to reboot it. We'll be doing this
today at 2pm. Please save anything you have open and logoff to avoid any
issues.
Thanks

Hi all,
Please join us at 4pm this afternoon at YNiC for a very informal seminar
/ forum discussion where we will be reflecting on the features and
benefits (and maybe cons) of attending any one of the many conferences
that we as a community might attend. The conversation will cover areas
like venues, size, what's included in registration, the science, poster
experiences, talk structure and typical audiences.
Hope to see you all here.
Best wishes,

André

Hi all,
Users have recently raised a couple of queries about YNIC operator
covered slots - and there appears to be some confusion. Please can I
clarify the following:
1) Operator covered slots are limited and pre-allocated on each scanner
- currently we allocated 12 hours per week on the GE and 18.5 hours on
the Siemens. These numbers are subject to periodic review.
2) We will endeavour to populate the database with operator covered
slots for 6 weeks into the future to help to provide extra flexibility
for fully funded projects (this has not always been possible but should
be implemented moving forward)
3) Training does NOT use up pre-allocated YNiC operator covered slots:
although it may appear in the database that operator covered slots are
used for training, these slots represent times when a YNiC operator is
required to attend to perform training, but these slots are in addition
to the pre-allocated operator covered slots for research scanning.
Please drop me a line if you have any further queries.
Thanks,

Today Leah Kelly will present a proposal for her new project "The neural
correlate of cognition and visual loss".
The talk will be at 4pm and will be followed by refreshments.
Hope to see you all there.
...
p.s. Not to detract from what I'm sure will be an excellent and
interesting presentation by Leah, but just s quick reminder:
** REMINDER - Kalanit Grill-Spector will be giving a seminar at 4pm on
Thursday 22 February in B020. Kalanit has made a number of seminal
contributions in visual neuroscience over the past 20 years,
particularly in the way faces and objects are represented in the brain.
I hope you will be able to attend her seminar. **
