Dear all, Hope you're looking forward to the Christmas Party! The festivities will begin on Thursday at 7:15 pm. The bar will be open and your first drink is on the house! We'll also be giving out raffle tickets for a free prize draw! We'll sit down for dinner around 8-8:15pm. I've attached your menu choices to this email. Be sure to remind yourself of what you ordered as you'll be expected to remember when the food is brought around. After dinner, there will be a disco at the hotel until midnight. FYI The School of Psychology & Clinical Language Sciences at the University of Reading invites applications for 2 prestigious 3-year Medical Research Council PhD Studentships for research on lifespan change and/or development of affective regulation and disturbance, for an October 2013 start. Fwd: Position for a PhD student in behavioral and imaging genetics

FYI The collaborative research center DFG-SFB-TR58 “Fear, Anxiety, Anxiety Disorders” (Münster, Würzburg, Hamburg) is opening a 3.5-year position for a PhD student (E13, starting January or later) to work on the genetic and neural mechanisms of context conditioning and extinction. The project will be conducted at the Institute for Systems Neuroscience in Hamburg (supervisors: C. Büchel, R. Kalisch) in close collaboration with the Unit for Molecular Psychiatry in Würzburg (supervisor: A. Reif). Methods used are fMRI, psychophysiology, behavioral and personality testing, and genetics. The position offers a great opportunity to work in a young, dynamic research team within one of Germany’s top systems neuroscience sites and to integrate into the German fear and anxiety research community. The SFB and local graduate programs offer attractive interdisciplinary training curricula. Applicants should have a graduation in neuroscience, cognitive science, psychology, biology or related subjects. FYI *Postdoctoral Position in Egner Lab, Duke University* We are seeking applications for a postdoctoral position in the Egner Lab in the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience at Duke University. We are primarily studying the neural mechanisms of cognitive control and predictive coding, using behavioral/modeling, fMRI and TMS approaches (see http://sites.google.com/site/egnerlab/). The position is NIH-funded, full-time, and starts in April 2013 (though later dates are possible). The initial contract will be for 1 year but can be renewed for up to three years. The successful candidate will have a strong background and publication record in cognitive neuroscience, and research interests that closely overlap with those of the lab. Programming skills and expertise in fMRI are prerequisites; experience with TMS and computational modeling are desirable. Applicants should have a master's degree in psychology, neuroscience or related fields and a strong interest and relevant experience in relevant research areas and methods. The applicant is expected to conduct and analyse a fMRI-study under supervision of Dr. Katharina Pauly and Prof. Dr. Ute Habel. Applicants must have a good working(?) knowledge of spoken and written English. Knowledge of German is advantageous. Comensuration is according to German federal regulations (TV-L 13 ½). The appointment is limited to 2 years. Postdoc opportunity
