The Estelle and Daniel Maggin Department of Neurology at Icahn School of
Medicine at Mount Sinai New York, New York is offering a full time
position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Applicants should have a Ph.D.
degree in biomedical engineering or MR physics and should have knowledge
and experience in task-based fMRI and/or resting state BOLD functional
connectivity analysis. Experience with fMRI analysis software packages,
presentation software, strong computer programming skills (e.g., in
C/C++ & especially MATLAB) are highly desirable. The newly constructed
Hess Center for Science and Medicine at Mount Sinai hosts both
state-of-the-art and cutting-edge imaging equipment including 1.5 Tesla,
3.0 Tesla, integrated MR/PET, PET/CT and human 7.0 Tesla (Siemens
Medical Solutions, Enlargen, Germany). The Hess Center has a very active
interdisciplinary research team consisting of people from engineering,
physics, chemistry, biology, and neuroscience backgrounds. The
post-holder will be expected to develop novel image post-processing,
computational and statistics methods to analyze fMRI data from specific
groups of neurological patients in collaboration with clinicians and
investigators involved in real-time fMRI, PET imaging, EEG and
rehabilitation. The Lab has a strong interest in developing new
algorithms for integrating neuroimaging modalities, laboratory and
behavioral measures in neurological diseases. Potential applicants are
encouraged to contact Matilde Inglese, Associate Professor Neurology,
Radiology and Neuroscience (email: matilde.inglese(a)mssm.edu) to find out
more about the role, before submitting a formal application including CV
and 3 references.

response control in humans. The candidate should have a PhD in any of
learning/motivation, movement control, working memory or
attentional/cognitive control. The candidate MUST have good skills in
functional imaging and/or electrophysiology, and be interested in
behavioral/cognitive task development.
The lab has excellent local and collaborative research resources,

Hi all,
I will be coming round ynic this Monday (14.10.13) between 9 am and 10:30
am, and Tuesday (15.10.13) between 2 pm and 3 pm to collect menu choices
(attached) and money for the Christmas party. Guests and partners are very
welcome (one guest per person) should you wish to bring them.
*Dietary Requirements*
The chef at The Churchill says he can cater for any dietary requirement. We
will take a preference for food choices and also write by each option the
particular dietary requirement (e.g. gluten-free).
Hopefully the chef will be able to make that dish with the specific dietary
requirement, but if not, then I'm sure he will make a tasty alternative.
If you are unable to be there at these times but would like to come to the
party, it would be great if you could leave your choices with somebody else
able to be there, or alternatively arrange a time to come see me in the
psychology department (or arrange a time with Rich Harris who is also
responsible for collecting money from ynic staff).
For reference, Tuesday is the deadline for payment.
Hope to see you all there!
Cheers,
Catta
Hi all,
The next M/EEG group meeting will take place in a week's time - on *Thursday
17th October* at *12:00* in the *Venables room*. (Note the change of time
to usual due to the new timetabling)
Becky Gilbert will be giving a talk entitled 'EEG Correlates of Subvocal
Rehearsal in Auditory-Verbal Short-Term Memory'.
Hope to see lots of you who do EEG and/or MEG there!
If you're not on the ynic mailing list and want to make sure you continue
to receive these emails in the future, please follow this link and enter
your preferred email

Due to several events, YNiC open plan will be very busy at the following
times.
Thursday 10th October 0930-1230 and 1615 onwards:
Seminars on resting state connectivity
Friday 11th October 1000-1200 and 1300-1500:
MSc Cognitive Neuroscience / 1st Year PhD Induction Part 1
Friday 25th October 1000-1200 and 1300-1500:
MSc Cognitive Neuroscience / 1st Year PhD Induction Part 2
Priority will be given to those attending the sessions and any machines
which have been left logged in will be logged out.
The YNiC induction sessions are also open to all of those who are new to
the centre this year. Please contact me (mark.hymers(a)ynic.york.ac.uk)

Dear all,
The annual Christmas party will be held on *Thursday 5th December* at *The
Churchill* <http://www.churchillhotel.com/> (65 Bootham, York), from 7pm.
The cost is *£23* and includes a free drink before the three-course meal.
The meal was really tasty last year and the menu for this year looks as
though it will be of the same high standard! Guests, including partners,
are welcome.
As always, the money is due in advance. We'll be coming around offices to
make collections on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th October, so make sure you
have some cash ready for us. Alternatively, you could pop by and see Huarda
<huarda.valdes-laribi(a)york.ac.uk>in C104, or Emma <eh776(a)york.ac.uk>or Adele
<ag561(a)york.ac.uk>in B001b. We've already had several sign-ups! *The final
deadline for payments is Tuesday 15th October.*
A flyer and the menu for this year are attached. We'll be asking for your
menu choices when we collect the money.
We're looking forward to seeing even more people this year, as it's a great
opportunity to get to know faculty, staff, postdocs, RAs and PhD students
in an informal environment! If we get enough people to attend, then we
might be able to get our own private room at the venue!
Best wishes,

Dear ynic-users
This is a request from one of the first undergraduate students who
volunteered to help out at ynic. He then took the MSc in Cog Neuro.
