Consult with researchers, staff, and students on the design, collection, processing, and analysis of high-dimensional brain imaging and EEG data sets. The candidate will be working on a project on the neural basis of primary food reward in humans using multimodal imaging (EEG-fMRI). An essential part of the project will be the development of methods of electrophysiological-hemodynamic coupling. Applicants must hold a Diplom, MSc or equivalent degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or a relevant discipline. They should have a strong interest in cognitive neuroscience and excellent programming skills. The Magnetic Resonance for Brain Investigation Laboratory at the Enrico Fermi Center, Rome, Italy, is opening a call for a 2-years postdoctoral position in the area of brain functional networks in neurodegenerative disorders and aging, exploiting quantitative MRI techniques. The aim of the project is to investigate the brain disconnection at network level occurring during aging and dementia, and to disentangle the relevant vascular and metabolic components. The project is part of the NETFUN (Brain FUNctional NETwork studied by NMR) project, a collaboration between Enrico Fermi Centre and the Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Center (CUBRIC) – School of Psychology – Cardiff University (UK). Available facilities include 3 3T scanners (2 in Rome, 1 in Cardiff) and full processing facilities. The ideal applicant has a solid MRI background, including a PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering or Information Technology. Experience with acquisition and analysis of functional MRI data, and specifically with ASL techniques, is highly desirable, as well as good knowledge of Matlab programming language. The postdoc will be under the joint supervision of Dr. Federico Giove and prof. Richard G. Wise. The fellow will work in a multidisciplinary group, with experience in dementia and in functional and structural MRI. The study will be mainly based in Rome (MARBILab, c/o Santa Lucia Foundation), with some work based in Cardiff. Fwd: Two postdoc jobs: neural decoding of language, and similarity-based neural representations

Two postdoctoral positions are available in the Department of Brain & Cognitive Sciences at the University of Rochester in the lab of Rajeev Raizada (http://raizadalab.org). Both positions will involve applying multivoxel pattern-based fMRI analysis to seeking to understand the structure of neural representations. One position will concentrate especially on the neural decoding of language, in particular the semantic representation of words embedded in sentences. The other position will focus on exploring similarity-based representations, relating neural similarity structure to the visual and semantic similarity of objects. Applicants must have a PhD in neuroscience, psychology, linguistics, computer science or a related field. Experience in some or all of the following areas would be ideal: fMRI data analysis, machine learning (especially kernel-based or Bayesian approaches), computational linguistics (for the language decoding postdoc), computer vision or visual psychophysics (for the object-similarity postdoc). Experience with Matlab or some other scientific programming language (e.g. SciPy, R) is required. Salary will be on the standard NIH postdoc payscale. Both positions are available immediately and have funding for a two year period, although they could potentially be extended beyond that time if mutually agreed and if additional funding is obtained.
