Hello,
Please see details below regarding upcoming inductions, training sessions,
and this week's COGS meeting.
*YNiC User Inductions*
If you are aware of any new students/staff that will require access to
YNiC and/or
an IT account, they must attend a YNiC user induction. Our next induction
will be on *Tuesday the 8th of October, at 10:00am*. Please ask them to
contact support(a)ynic.york.ac.uk to sign up.
*Level 0 operator training*The next L0 training session will be held
on *Wednesday
the 9th of October, 13:00-15:00.* Please note that users requesting Level 0
training should be a PhD, RA/Postdoc, or staff, and should already have a
project proposal submitted to YNiC. Please email support(a)ynic.york.ac.uk if
you have any questions or wish to book on to this session. Please note that
sessions are limited to 4 trainees, which will be allocated on a first-come
first-served basis.
*COGS: Wednesday at 11am at YNiC*
At this semester's first COGS session, we’ll be hosting an ECR roundtable
at *11:00am this Wednesday, October 2nd, at YNiC*. Everyone is welcome —
we’re particularly keen to have PhD students and post-docs join us. We'll
have an informal discussion about the cognitive neuroscience methodologies
each of us is using and/or interested in, and how YNiC can better support
your research.
If you are interested in leading a COGS session or giving a Seminar talk,
please get in touch (jennifer.ashton(a)york.ac.uk).
Have a great week! :)
Many thanks,
Jennifer

Hi All,
*For everyone:* we've updated some of the YNIC documents, so please make
sure you use:
- Version 10 of the REC application form,
- Version 10 of the Participant Information Sheet,
- Version 4 of the YNIC Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA).
We'll get all these forms on the website as soon as possible, but they're
attached here as I know some of you are waiting for them.
*For MEG users:* we now have a separate questionnaire for MEG, so you will
use the MEG questionnaire for MEG, the existing one for fMRI and both if
your participant is having MEG and fMRI.
We also now have DPIA approval for the LIDAR system, which involves
acquiring and storing images of the participant's face. Please note that
researchers will have access to the transformation matrix generated with
these images, but only YNIC staff will have access to the images
themselves. Please do not attempt to copy or keep these images! The
procedures are explained in the new DPIA (version 4, attached). If you wish
to deviate from these procedures, you will need to check whether you'll
need to get your own DPIA approval.
Any questions, please let me know.
Best wishes,
Fiona
Hi All,
We will be holding our annual induction of Masters students, next week. Due
to the large number of students involved, the open-plan area will be
unavailable for the duration. Remote services will be available as usual
for you to continue your work.
Cheers,
Rich
