Hello All,
There is a plaque in YNiC commemorating the opening of the centre 27th May
2005. YNiC is therefore 15 today. Under normal circumstances, we would
have had a celebration. This will be postponed but in the meantime, I
thought I would share some data:
Research Participants scanned: 4,512
Users of the YNiC facilities: 1,077
Research students (MSc + PhD): 614
Number of projects: 432
Scan Sessions: 19,662
Sequences run on MRI: 69,809
DICOM images acquired: 160,000,000
The vast majority of you receiving this will have contributed to some, many
or all of those numbers. Thank you!
Also, huge thanks to the staff at YNiC past and present, who have made
everything possible.
We look forward to a time when together we can resume research and teaching
activities and provide our valued clinical service to the community.
All good wishes
Tony

Good Morning everyone
I hope you enjoyed the Bank Holiday weekend and were able to take some time
to rest and relax.
There is nothing new to report this week, just an update on GE and the
usual notices.
*GE update*
We are awaiting parts for the air handling unit in the GE scanner, so as a
precaution the system is currently down until the necessary parts are
received and installed.
*Logging out of the Remote Desktop*
We would like to remind users about the importance of *logging out* to end
remote desktop sessions at the end of the day. You should treat the remote
desktop in the same way as the open plan PCs: save your work and log out as
you normally would once you finish for the day (i.e. Applications > Log
Out) - once you've logged out your session should automatically terminate,
but if not, you should also terminate the session on the x2go client.
Any remote desktop sessions that have been suspended (not opened or used)
for more than ten days will be terminated to free up space.
*Support*
If you have any questions or need assistance, no matter how minor, please
send an email to support(a)ynic.york.ac.uk, rather than to specific
individuals, as this will be the best way to get help quickly.
*YNiC Journal Club - Thursday 4pm*
This week we will be watching another recorded talk together.
We will all join a zoom meeting (details below), and one of the YNiC staff
will host the video for everyone to watch together - we can then pause
during the talk if necessary, add comments in the zoom chat, or just
discuss it at the end. Note that there is no pressure to have your mic or
video on at any time during or after the talk (you also don't need to watch
it in advance).

Good Morning everyone
I hope you are all keeping well and looking after yourselves.
With the recent variability in weather we've experienced some issues with
our air handling unit in the GE scanner, so as a precaution the system is
currently down until the necessary parts are received and installed. Since
we're still in lockdown, this will not result in any 'loss of scanning',
but we hope to have everything back up and running as soon as we can. We
are still performing regular essential maintenance to ensure the centre is
in good shape and ready for us to continue with research once we are in a
position to do so.

Hi everyone
I hope you all had a relaxing long weekend, and are all doing OK.
As well as the usual reminders, below, we wanted to reiterate the message
from the Vice-Chancellor today - there are no changes to the current
working arrangements, and the centre remains closed. Please stay home and
stay safe!

Hi everyone,
I hope you are all doing well.
*Remote desktop timeout*
>From today, any remote desktop sessions that have been suspended (not
opened or used) for more than ten days will be terminated to free up space.
As a matter of best practice, please save any unsaved work before leaving a
session anyway as we cannot guarantee you will be able to reopen a
suspended session.
