Dear Colleagues,
Apologies for the mass emailing but I wanted to bring this fantastic opportunity to the attention of your outstanding PhD and Postdoctoral students.
The University of Birmingham (UK) is holding another round of Birmingham Fellow (BF) appointments with one directed toward Mental Health and Cognitive Neuroscience. BF appointments provides the successful candidate with 5 years of funding with no teaching or administrative responsibilities and then a permanent job in the School of Psychology at the end at a senior level. Competition in the past and no doubt in this round will be very intense.
Attached please find the documents necessary for information and application. I would be happy to answer any questions they may have.
Best wishes,
Kim

I am advertising a 3-year fully funded PhD position with start in
september 2015. The student will use fMRI in healthy participants and
stroke patients to investigate how attention and the ocular sensorimotor
signals are coupled and how errors in this coupling can lead to
attention disorders such as spatial neglect.

Dear users,
Last year the University centralised all Matlab licenses at York and
registered them to IT Services. The initial contract offered all Matlab
toolboxes for a one year trial period. This trial period concludes in April.
IT Services are now reviewing the contract for Matlab and will only be
licensing a limited selection of toolboxes based on user feedback. We
would therefore like to collect usage information from users at YNiC.
If you are using Matlab at YNiC and use *any* toolboxes please send
details of your requirements to it-support(a)ynic.york.ac.uk, subject
'Matlab toolboxes'. We will collect all the responses and forward a
summary to IT Services detailing our requirements.
Please send your responses by Wednesday 11th March at the latest.
Many thanks, Paul.

Dear DCOs,
This message is sent on behalf of Sarah Butcher, our Software Licensing
Co-ordinator. Please send any responses to itsupport(a)york.ac.uk
<mailto:itsupport@york.ac.uk>.
Our Matlab site licence is due for renewal in April. The site licence
negotiated last year included all available Matlab toolboxes on a trial
basis. Matlab is now offering us a standard configuration of Matlab with
a number of selected toolboxes included in the licence. We will, of
course, have the option to purchase additional toolboxes if required.
To help us identify the correct requirements for the University, please
consult with Matlab users in your department as soon as possible to
confirm which toolboxes are essential to your department and send this
information toitsupport(a)york.ac.uk <mailto:itsupport@york.ac.uk>no later
than Friday 13 March.
You can find a list of the toolboxes currently provided with our
license, including details of current usage levels, at:
