The Business-Like Brain
Ed Bullmore, University of Cambridge
Like a business, the brain network is designed to minimise cost and add
value. Highly connected hub nodes of the network are biologically
expensive but arguably worth it because they facilitate higher order
mental functions. Join Neuroscientist, Ed Bullmore, as he discusses how
these high-cost/high-value hubs may also be points of special
vulnerability for many brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and
schizophrenia.
Please note that although admission is free, a ticket is required

Hi
Occasionally I torment myself and revisit a task switching study that I have yet to get closure on.
You may find the following helpful - sorry if this is old news.
I recently discovered this paper
Woo, C.-W., Krishnan, A., & Wager, T. D. (2014). Cluster-extent based thresholding in fMRI analyses: Pitfalls and recommendations. Neuroimage, 91, 412-419. doi: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.neuroimage.2013.12.058
which offers some seemingly sensible rules of thumb regarding whole brain analyses and cluster correction (regardless I’m sticking with .005!)
In addition I have found the following matlab tools very useful
tal2mni.m
mni2tal.m
that can be downloaded from here
http://imaging.mrc-cbu.cam.ac.uk/imaging/MniTalairach
you will need spm-matrix.m
but this can be downloaded here
https://code.google.com/p/fieldtrip/source/browse/trunk/external/spm8/spm_m….
In return my Munster converter has stopped working due to JAVA issues any advice gratefully received.
Philip.

continue to build upon values established more than 800 years ago.
Although many things have changed with the times, our commitment to
respect, compassion, and quality care—for every patient and every
professional—remains as strong as ever. Our network currently
consists of four hospitals, as well as our immediate-care and
occupational health centers.
The *Illinois MEG Center* is engaged in both patient care and
research activities with respect to the relationships between
behavior and brain structure and function. Exploration of brain
function involves behavioral and cognitive testing,
Magnetoencephalography (MEG), Electroencephalography (EEG), Magnetic

Spectroscopy which are performed on a wide range of subject
populations including adults and children with epilepsy, brain
tumors, autism, and psychiatric disease.
The primary focus of the Illinois MEG Center is to provide
diagnostic testing services to a wide range of subject populations
including adults and children with epilepsy, brain tumors, strokes,
traumatic brain injuries, various degenerative brain disorders, and

using a variety of techniques and instruments under the supervision
of the Medical Director or Center Manager. A technologist in this
category will have experience with the basics of performing an EEG,
and will have acquired skill in applying EEG electrodes in
accordance with the International 10-20 system of electrode
