research, the School of Life and Health Sciences in partnership with the
new forthcoming School of Medical Sciences wishes to recruit high
quality early career researchers to enhance the world-class research at
Aston around the following strategic themes. Tenure-track fellowships
are available to provide the opportunity for researchers with a
demonstrable track record with the potential to establish independent
academic careers around the theme outlined below.
*Neuroimaging and neurodevelopmental disorders*
Brain-behaviour relationships characterising typical and atypical
neurodevelopment. Particular focus on biological risk factors in
developmental dyslexia and in epilepsy.
*Candidate Requirement*:
You will have a PhD, a proven track record of excellence with a research
plan that is in line with the above themes. You will have the vision and
drive to develop a prestigious research portfolio by working
collaboratively with established scientists in our institute and help
make a significant impact on the performance and profile of
translational experimental research at Aston University. The post is
available immediately for a period of five years with the expectation of
progressing to an established academic post subject to meeting

My lab is looking to hire a programmer / IT staff person to support our
brain imaging research. We're open to this being a position filled by an
IT savvy post-bac (e.g., prior to grad school), a grad student/postdoc
looking to switch off the academic track, someone with a traditional IT

support investigators in the Brain and Behavioral Sciences Lab (BBSL)
using cutting-edge brain imaging and electrophysiological techniques.
The BBSL is located within the Department of Psychology

) at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Lead in the management and maintenance of the servers, networks, and
workstations for a dynamic research environment. Consult with
researchers, assistants, and staff on the planning and implementation of
software, hardware, and storage capabilities for the collection,
processing, and analysis of large fMRI and EEG data sets.Participate in
the design of long-term and complex studies on emotion and cognition.
Plan for the growth of and maintain lab servers, workstations, and networks.
This is an ideal opportunity for IT savvy individuals with experience
working in a neuroimaging lab or similar biomedical research environment
at the undergraduate, graduate, or post-doctoral levels. Competitive salary.
The incumbent will be supervised by Prof. Alex Shackman and support both
the Shackman laboratory and other BBSL labs (Drs. Pessoa, Redcay, and

Minimum Qualifications:
- Either a Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (must
show evidence that the relevant degree will be completed before the
start of the position) -OR- a Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field
AND equivalent work experience in a research environment
- Minimum of 1 year experience with Linux system administration and data
backup. Applicants should be prepared to describe their prior portfolio
of relevant experiences
- Ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and document IT projects
-Ability to proactively and clearly communicate and interact with a
multi-disciplinary team of investigators, staff, and trainees in a
variety of settings (e.g., face to face, email, phone)

with a wide range of IT expertise

-Must have flexible working hours to include occasional weekend/evening

Preferences:
-Masters or higher degree in either an IT-related field -OR- a

Neurocognitive processes underpinning different aspects of Mental Resilience
Applications are invited for a 4 year PhD studentship fully funded by
the Ministry of Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL),
supervised by Prof Paul Downing (School of Psychology), Prof Lew Hardy,
and Dr. Ross Roberts (School of Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences).
The studentship includes payment of UK / EU level tuition fees and a
maintenance allowance of £13,726. All PhDs funded by DSTL are subject to
MODREC approval.
Project Description
This studentship is to support an interdisciplinary project that will
focus on expanding current conceptualisations of Mental Resilience to
include both decision making under pressure and emotional responses to
traumatic situations. The project will use functional MRI to examine the
neurocognitive processes underlying these different forms of mental
resilience, and will also examine how the capacity to utilise these
processes predicts performance and mental well-being in military
environments. The project represents a collaboration between
world-leading researchers in elite human performance and in cognitive
neuroscience, from two Schools at Bangor University.

Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will normally have a First Class Honours Degree
and/or a Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline. The ability to work
independently and enthusiastically with the support of a supervisor is
essential. Good quantitative research skills are essential; experience
of measurement development and or/brain imaging would be advantageous
but not essential, as training will be provided. The successful
candidate will also have the opportunity to work with other PhD students
and staff members from the research centres. Applications will be

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neuroimaging

As a young and dynamic institution, the School of Humanities and Social
Sciences (HSS) at Nanyang Technological University is pleased to
announce that seven Postdoctoral Fellowships are to be awarded in
July/August 2013. One of these fellowships are to be hosted by the
School-level research clusters including:
New Frontiers in Neuroscience
Cognitive Neuroscience: The candidate should preferably have expertise
in cognitive neuroscience, with the specifications on one or more of the
following areas: language and culture (e.g., multilingualism development
in infancy), vision and memory, aging, spatial (or navigation)
perception and learning, learning, speech and language disorders.
Expertise in functional neuroimaging (fMRI, DTI, EEG, and/or TMS) is a plus.
