Dear all,
As you may know, due to complications with the availability of parts,
the planned power-down at the Biocentre last month did not occur.
Due to this, on Wednesday 29th July at 6pm, the power to the Biocentre
will be temporarily cut off. We will therefore have to shut down all
YNiC services including the desktops, cluster, servers, web servers and
so on. YNiC will therefore close at 1700 to allow staff time to shut
all services down in a clean manner. We also suggest that people
refrain from submitting jobs to the cluster on Wednesday afternoon as
any which are on the cluster when we have to shutdown will be cancelled.
We anticipate that power will return at about 9pm.
A seperate notice will be sent out by Paul regarding the psychology mail
server.
Thanks,
Mark

Dear all,
Just to let you know that there will be groups of 6th form visitors on
tours of YNiC today, between 2pm and 4pm. During this time, Open Plan in
particular will be especially busy. However, computer availability will
not be affected. These tours are part of the university Open Day.

Dear all,
The electrical work at the Biocentre has been cancelled due to the
relevant part not arriving in time. This means that neither
psycmail.york.ac.uk or the YNiC systems will be down this evening but
that there will be an outage in the future (the timing is yet to be
decided and will be sent around as soon as possible).
Sorry about the late change,
Mark
